Deacon Lonnie Jenkins Blackwell, Sr.

     Deacon Lonnie Jenkins Blackwell, Sr., age 83 of Elberton, Georgia passed April 11, 2016. He was a Veteran of the US Army. He served as chairman of the deacon board for many years at Sardis Baptist Church. He retired from Southeastern Power Administration and Court Bailiff in Elbert County.

      Funeral service 1pm Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Sardis Baptist Church, Hartwell, Georgia. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He will lie in state at 12 noon in the church Saturday until hour of service.

    Survivors include his; wife, Betty Jo Blackwell; children, Lonnie Blackwell Jr., Dwight L. Highsmith,; daughters, Monteary Almond, Gwendolyn A. Blackwell, Connie J. Blackwell, Phyllis Y. Highsmith; sister, Monteary Cole; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.

     The family is at the home, 649 Pulliam St. Elberton, GA 30635.
