Mrs. Fannie Pearl (Thornton) Stephens, age 78 peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Fannie Pearl Thornton Stephens was born on December 2, 1945, in Elbert County, GA. She was the daughter of the late James "ED" Thornton and Mozell Wall Thornton. She was a devoted wife to Terry Stephens for 57 years. To this union, three beautiful children were born. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Ruckers Grove Baptist Church.
Fannie loved cooking, reading her bible, sewing, and caring for her grandchildren. Before moving to Conyers, GA. she was a very active member at New Rising Star Baptist Church where she served on the Usher and culinary ministries.
Fannie Stephens was preceded in death by Doris Blackwell Thornton, two sisters: Cozell Thornton Cooper and Jessie Thornton Stephenson and one brother: Joe Edward Blackwell.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Terry Stephens, one son, Gerald Stephens (Angela) of Bowling Green, KY; two daughters: Valerie Stephens and Terri Scruggs (Christopher) of Decatur, GA. Her siblings: James Thomas Thornton (Sandra)-Chattanooga, TN, Talmadge Thornton (Louvenia) - Dewy Rose, GA. John Thornton (Mae Bell) - Harrisburg, PA, Roy Thornton (Commie Lee) - Columbus, GA. Sallye Thornton-Johnson (Jimmy) - Stone Mountain, GA, Kenneth Thornton (Bernice) - Dewy Rose, GA; four grandchildren, Kennedy and Jaden Stephens of Bowling Green, KY; Kenneth Robey and Christian Scruggs of Decatur, GA. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 1:00pm, located at Friendship C.M.E. Church 5270 Lower Mill Road Crawfordville, GA 30631.
Interment will follow the funeral service at Friendship C.M.E. Church Cemetery - Crawfordville, GA.
