In 1952, Mr. Bradley Eppinger Sr. and his wife Mrs. Mable Eppinger opened the Marietta Funeral Parlor in Marietta, GA. The business has always been a family endeavor. Bradley and Mable had four children, who were all a part of the business. Their two sons: Bradley Eppinger Jr. and Mack Eppinger attended Embalming School in Atlanta, GA and upon graduating with honors they returned to the family business to work with their mother and father. The business name was then changed to Bradley Eppinger and Sons, Funeral Directors. In 1960 the family and the funeral business suffered a great loss with the passing of Mrs. Mable Eppinger.

Mack Eppinger served as the licensed funeral director and Bradley Eppinger Jr. served as the licensed embalmer. The Eppinger brothers ran the Funeral home in Marietta together until 1985. In 1985 Mack Eppinger acquired a funeral home that was family owned and operated from Adolph Knight in Cartersville, GA and changed the name to Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home. In the early 90’s Mack Eppinger daughter Bridgett Eppinger-Greene took over the business and is still operating as the licensed Funeral Director in charge. 

Mack Eppinger found his way to Hartwell, GA after servicing the family member of a close friend. After seeing the need and possibility for providing a good service he opened Mack’s Funeral Home in the mid 70’s. Mack Eppinger served the people of Hartwell until 1984 when he turned the business over to his youngest son Alan B. Eppinger. Alan had been serving the community of Hartwell diligently for 30 years and then decided to expand his business and opened a second location in Elberton, GA in August 2013. 

After serving the communities of Hartwell and Elberton for nearly 4 decades in May of 2022, Mr. Alan Eppinger sold the company to Mr. Carlos Davenport & Friend’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Continuing the Mack’s Promise, our company currently serves the communities of Hartwell, Elberton and surrounding areas.
