Mrs. Addie Bell Simpson, age 101 peacefully departed from this walk of life to gain her Heavenly reward on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in Elberton, GA.
It was on Monday, April 2, 1923 in the community of Elbert County, Georgia known as Flatwoods the oldest daughter of Mr. Thomas Lawrence and Mrs. Mollie Lou (Tate) Lawrence was born and they named her Addie Bell Lawrence.
At the age of nine years old, Addie Bell realized that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior therefore she joined the Fortson Grove Baptist Church in 1932 where she was served on the Mother’s Board, Usher’s Board, Missionary and any other auxiliary that she was needed; anyone that knew her know she loved her church and served faithfully. Addie Bell was a very faithful and active member until her health began to decline. Addie Bell was an Eastern Star and the last surviving member of the daughters of the Elk where she proudly served for many years.
She loved to go fishing and a great game of spades once she sit down with her partner you better believe she wasn’t moving from her seat whether they win or lose. Addie Bell loved and protected for her entire family; you didn’t mess with any of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces or nephews without hearing from her. To know her was to love her and once you saw her you would forever remember something witty she said.
Addie Bell was twice married, first to Mr. Toy William Dubose and to this union a daughter was born; she later in life married Mr. Cleveland (Beater) Simpson and to this union two sons was born, this marriage also brought her a son and daughter whom she loved as her own. Addie Bell raised all of her children to love and respect their fellowman and did not play the radio with any of them.
A life well lived of a servant who has fought the great fight of faith came to an end on April 7, 2024, at her residence, she was reunited with her parents, her husband Mr. Cleveland Simpson; her son Mr. Johnny Simpson; her daughter Ms. Patricia Lorraine Simpson; her granddaughter Ms. Shirley Denise Cade; her great great granddaughter Little Miss Raelynn Binns; her siblings Mr. William Lawrence, Mr. Arthur Lawrence, Mrs. Annie Sue Harper Tate, Mrs. Rosa Lee Lawrence Boney all who was awaiting for her to come home.
Addie Bell leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter, Mrs. Ben Doris (Dubose) Cade of Elberton, GA; two sons, Mr. Murray Simpson of Twentynine Palms, CA, Mr. Jessie George Simpson of Augusta, GA; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sonja Mattox Simpson of Elberton, GA; her caregiver and devoted grandson, Mr. Willie James Cade of the home; twelve grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, nineteen great great grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. Millard Lawrence of Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Roosevelt (Doris) Lawrence of Philadelphia, PA; a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 10:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 2:00pm, located at Fortson Grove Baptist Church - Elberton, GA.
Interment Service will follow the funeral service at Lincoln Height's Cemetery - Elberton, GA.
