Alonzo Orsley

Mr. Alonzo Orsley, age 71 of Elberton, Georgia entered his eternal rest on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Alonzo Orsley was born on May 20, 1951, to the late Booker T. and Geneva Orsley. He was the oldest of 5 children born to this union. He entered his eternal rest on May 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John B. and Melvin Alexander. At an early age, he joined his father's home church, Carlton Grove Baptist Church, where he attended until his health declined. 

Alonzo attended the Hart County Public School System. He worked in the granite industry and spent many years as a crater. While working as a crater, he met and married the love of his life, Sallye, and remained faithful until his passing. He recently retired from Matthew Granite Company where he served for 20 years.

He was known by his pleasant personality and was well liked by everyone. Alonzo met no strangers and made everyone feel comfortable. He always kept a smile on his face. On a sunny day, you could always find him cleaning cars (especially his family's), riding his ATV, or his motorcycle, or cruising up and down the four lanes in his Cutlass. Alonzo was also known for his famous phrase such as "Oh Lawd" and "Oh Shoot". Although he was a man of few words, his presence spoke volumes. To know him was to love him. 

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and faithful wife of 49 years, Sallye. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters; Tawanda of Macon, GA and KaSheena (Floyd) of Augusta, GA. Two beautiful granddaughters; Samaria and Saniya Scott. He loved his grandchildren, he called one "Tweetie" and the other one "Boop Boop"; Two brothers; Booker T. (Leslie); Don (Brenda); one sister Marjorie (Frankie). Eight sister in laws (Jeanette); Dianne (Terry); Ella (Leroy); Doris (Pastor Johnny); Renee (Darryl), Barbara (Pastor Stacy); Virginia (Randy); Pam (Stacey). Three brother in laws; Ben (Tammy), Terry (Deidra); Robert (Brenda). He had a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

Special thanks to his caregiver, Shaquilla Heard and "Team Alonzo", who gathered for 60 plus evenings in support of Alonzo. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 1:00pm, located at Love In Action Outreach Center. 

Interment will follow the funeral service at Carlton Grove Baptist Church - Elberton, Georgia.
