Alvin Rickey Sherman

Mr. Alvin Rickey Sherman, age 70 made his transition to his eternal home on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia.

Alvin was born on April 5, 1954, in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Henry Lloyd Sherman and the late Shirley Annette (Couey) Sherman. 

Alvin was educated in the Columbus, Georgia school district. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He served as a mechanic while in the Army, working on the aircraft and his most favorite stories was him working on the helicopters; this led him to return home and began to work in various automotive shops lastly working at Welborn Automotive in Elberton, Georgia.

Alvin met and married Deborah Ann Lamb and they enjoyed life and were inseparable.

Alvin won the friendship of many friends at Petersburg Towers in Elberton where he resided his last years of life. 

Those preceding him in death are his parents; his beloved wife Deborah Ann (Lamb) Sherman; one son Michael Ricky Sherman; one sister Helen Charlene (Sherman) Gibson.

Alvin leaves to cherish his memories two sons Richard (Melenie) Sherman of Elberton, Georgia, James Sherman of Montezuma, Georgia; two brothers Chris Sherman of Elberton, Georgia, Donald Sherman of Hartwell, Georgia; two nieces Crystal (Sherman) Villejos of Commerce, Georgia, Sonja (Sherman) McLane of Lavonia, Georgia; two nephews Donnie Sherman of Columbus, Georgia, Mark Sherman of Atlanta, Georgia; other relatives and a host of loving friends at Petersburg Towers.

To honor Mr. Sherman's final wishes no formal services will be held. We ask that you keep the Sherman family in your prayers.

 You may express your condolences, sign the online register, send flowers, or light a memory candle in his honor to provide comfort to the family.
