Angela Wilhelmina (Mena) Allen

On Friday, October 25, 2024, the Lord in his great wisdom dispatched an angel quietly to peacefully escort Ms. Angela Wilhelmina (Mena) Allen, 70 of Elberton, GA, out of this earthly life to relocate to her new heavenly home.

Angela W. (Mena) Allen was called home, Friday, October 25, 2024 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia after battling illness for a few years.

Angela, affectionally called Mena, was the daughter of the late Luther Henry (L. H.) Allen and Janie Ruth (Alexander) Allen. She was born  January 9, 1954 in Elberton, Georgia. She is proceeded in death by her brother Henry (Hanky) Allen; the love of her life, Darrell Raynor; and god daughter, Keon Allen.

To know Mena, was to love her. She never met a stranger and her vibrant personality won over the hearts of many. She was a mother, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She and her mother raised many of us (Denise, Natalie, Marcia, Jerita) in their home. Mena loved a yard sale and would have you up at sunrise heading out all over the surrounding counties. Her love for family and friends was felt in the phone calls she did daily, the gift baskets she made and gave away, and being present at all family events.

Mena was a 1973 graduate of Elbert County High School. She joined Vance Creek at an early age and was a member of the Helping Hand Choir. She retired from Conagra in Athens after almost 30 years  due to declining health.

Mena leaves to cherish her memories a host of family and friends; her special caregivers for many years, Ann Plummer, Doris White, Evon Blackmon, Spencer Wilbon and god children, John L. Plummer and Keyana Plummer.

Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2:00pm, located at Vance Creek Baptist Church - Elberton, GA. 

Interment service will follow the funeral service at Vance Creek Baptist Church.
