Annie Fortson Obituary

In the beginning God created the Heaven and earth — and on this beautiful earth he created man and woman. He loved them so well until he built a highway to heaven. There are trains that runs from earth to glory, and Ms. Annie Ruth “Lil Bit” (Rucker) Fortson a dear mother, daughter, sister, and aunt bought her ticket for there on September 19, 2025, at her sweet soul left the Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, Athens, Georgia.

Ms. Annie Ruth (Rucker) Fortson was born on October 29, 1962, to Mrs. Myrtle Anderson Hunt and the late Mr. Norman Rucker. Through this world, alas! Once and only once I pass; If a kindness I may do, to a suffering fellowman, let me do while I can. No delay, for it is plain. I shall not pass this way again. Such was the testimony of “Lil Bit” she tried to show kindness to others always. She was always ready to do a good deed for others. She was kind, passionate, warm, friendly, and possessed a charming personality. She loved everybody, attended church, and rendered her service while she could.

For all those who knew her, she had their love and respect. Her warm hospitality and love for everyone will remain with us.

“Lil Bit” leaves to remember her life, a loving mother Mrs. Myrtle Hunt of Elberton, GA; her devoted fiancé Mr. Tony Allen, of Elberton, GA; her son Mr. Tariel Montgomery; her granddaughter Miss Kaleigha Montgomery; her grandson Master Damion A. Montgomery all of Toccoa, GA; three sisters Ms. Bobbie J. Smith Elberton, GA, Ms. Jeraline Pittman and Ms. Shelia Brinson both of Athens, GA; two brothers Mr. Leonard Rucker of Lavonia, GA and Mr. Robert Rucker of Hartwell, GA; devoted nieces Ms. Cynthia Rucker, Ms. Tiffany Rucker and Ms. Timeshia Little all of Hartwell, GA; great nieces and nephews Raymonna Rucker, Raymond Rucker, Aaliyah Hill, Keasia Allen and Delrunte Rucker; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
