Ms. Azalee Barnett lovingly known as “Dee”, beloved mother to three children passed away with her family by her side on March 15, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
Azalee was born to the late James A. Barnett and the late Vinnie (Norman) Barnett.
She moved to Knoxville, TN after she graduated and later to Atlanta, GA, where she lived for some years before moving back to Elberton, GA.
Azalee retired from Honeywell after thirty-four years. After her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved shopping, decorating, growing flowers and baking. She was known for having the best tasting red velvet cake and this one cake would cause an argument as to who was going to take it home.
She loved the Lord, and her faith was unwavering till the end. In the midst of her storm, she continued to show amazing strength and resilience praising the Lord and giving him thanks.
Our mother leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters Mrs. Sharon (Dennis) Clark of Hartwell, GA, Mrs. Monica (James) Alexander of Royston, GA, Ms. LaToya Barnett of Elberton, GA; six grandchildren Jacque’ Jackson, Christie Jackson, Kirstie (Marvin) Johnson, Shane Jackson, Darius Alexander, Trevion Sims; eight great grandchildren; one sister Ms. Mattie Johnson of Knoxville, TN; four brothers Mr. Willie James Barnett of Elberton, GA, Mr. Columbus (Pauline) Barnett of Decatur, GA, Mr. Horace (Brucilla) Barnett-Bradley of Athens, GA, Mr. Marion Barnett of Athens, GA; one sister-in-law Ms. Teresa Barnett of Elberton, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
