Brenda Lee (Porter) Smith

Mrs. Brenda Lee (Porter) Smith, age 76 departed from this walk of life to gain her Heavenly reward on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at her residence in Fairburn, Georgia.

Brenda Porter Smith was born on October 5, 1948, three years after World War II. She was delivered by a mid-wife, Ms. Mattie Stevens, in home. At the young age of 10, she joined Holly Spring Baptist Church in Bowman, Georgia, and was baptized in the church pool under the leadership of Rev. Grogan. She was educated by the Elbert County School System, except for two years when she was educated by the Nassau County School System in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Blackwell Memorial High School. She attended Athens Technical School in Athens, Georgia.

Brenda became employed by General Motors Acceptance Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia and retired after 36 years of service. She met and married Robert Smith. He preceded her in death after 48 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents Ozzie and Grace Porter.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two brothers, John Lindsey Porter, Stone Mountain, Georgia; Stalin Porter, Bowman, Georgia; one sister, Gloria Tamara Porter, Elberton, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Andrea Porter, Stone Mountain, Georgia; and Cobolea Porter, Bowman, Georgia; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 11:00 - 3:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 3:30pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Interment Service will follow funeral services located at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery - Bowman, GA.
