Carl Drinkard

Mr. Carl Drinkard, age 78 of Bowersville, Georgia entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. 

Carl C. Drinkard was born May 31st, 1945, to the late Oliver Drinkard and Maggie Little-Drinkard, in Franklin County Georgia. He transitioned peacefully into his eternal body November 23rd, 2022, at his home.

Carl joined New Hope Franklin Baptist church, in Lavonia, Georgia at an early age. He later served faithfully at Restoration Worship Center, in Lavonia Georgia, where his daughter and son-in-law are pastors. Acknowledged by the congregants as “Poppa”.

Carl was a loyal employee with Bowen & Watson Construction Company in Toccoa for 42 years. Here he developed lifelong relationships and friendships, that he held close within his heart.

Although Carl wasn’t very talkative, he had a love for the being outside, sitting in the sunshine. He loved family and enjoyed being in family gatherings, laughing and joking around. He was also a loyal Atlanta Braves fan!

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Hicks-Drinkard, both parents, Oliver & Maggie Lee Drinkard, his daughter Kimberly Drinkard, and by all his siblings. Sisters: Girlean Tealsey, Effie Drinkard, Sue Drinkard. Brothers: Willie, John Carey, Jimmy, Ollie and JC Drinkard.

He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters Gladys Drinkard of the home. Chiquita (Bishop Bruce) Clark of Hartwell, Georgia. Son, Minister Jermaine Drinkard of Commerce, Georgia. Sister-in-laws Linda Drinkard, Toccoa, GA, Sharon Rucker, Albany GA, Lucy Mattress, Anderson SC, Mary Tate, Royston, GA Lucy Moon, Royston, GA. Brother in-laws, Deacon Nathaniel Johnson, Bowersville, GA, Rev. Bobby Berryman, Royston, GA 12 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grands and 1 Great-Great Grand, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Mack's Funeral Home - Hartwell Chapel from 12:00pm until 5:00pm. 

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church at 12:00pm. 

​Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Church.
