Mrs. Clouis Fouch Burch, age 99 of Dewy Rose, Georgia entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
On December 15, 1923, in Lincoln County, GA the fifth child out of twelve was born to the union of the late Mr. Luther and Mrs. Annie Lou (Avery) Fouch and her name was Clouis E. Fouch.
At an early age Clouis professed and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lincoln County, GA; at the age of nine years old she and the family moved to Elbert County, GA thus she joined Maple Spring Baptist Church. During these ninety years she was a dedicated member serving as secretary of the Senior Mission for fifty years, secretary of the Mother Board and secretary of the Usher Board where she was faithful until her declining health. Clouis was a member of the Gospel Group “Southern Singing Sisters” where she was the spokeswoman, this group travelled throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
On March 19, 1940, she married Mr. Berry Burch and to their union eleven children was born. After the passing of her sister Doris, they reared her children. God called Berry home after forty-eight years of Holy Matrimony. Clouis was a hard-working woman and after twenty-five years of service at Hartwell Garment Company, she retired to a life of relaxation and traveling. She was a lifetime member of the Hart County AARP Chapter 2006. Clouis was known as the “Nurse” of the family, this led her to travel taking care of all of her siblings and other relatives throughout the years. To each of us she held a title whether it was mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin and last but not least…. FRIEND. She touched each of us in her own special way.
On August 1, 2023, Mrs. Clouis E. Fouch Berry reunited with her parents, husband, children, Annie Lois Dozier, Robert “Ken” Burch, Jimmy L. Burch, Benny Frank Allen, Earnest Lee Allen, Sylvia Jones; siblings, Roberta Fouch, Robert Fouch, Mattie Dye, James Fouch, John Fouch, Doris Allen, Elsie Harper, Luther Fouch, Jr., Mary Jones, Ida Jean Fouch, Pearlean Macklin; grandchildren, Robert Burch, Erica Burch, Donnette Jones, Pamela Allen, Renee Robinson. After ninety-nine years of being a true and faithful servant of God and loving her fellowman two tired eyelids closed, two hard working hands were stilled and a heart of gold stopped beating.
