Mr. Columbus Junior Curry was born on September 7, 1960, in Carlton, Georgia, to the late Mr. Columbus Curry and the late Mrs. Corene (Brewer) Noble.
Columbus was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Rayle, Georgia. As long as his health allowed, you could count on seeing him there every Sunday. He loved his church, and his church family truly loved him right back.
If you ever passed through Rayle, chances are you saw Columbus sitting outside the store, watching the day go by. But he wasn’t just sitting he was connecting. He spoke to everyone, made you feel seen, and before you knew it, you were in full conversation, and maybe even picking up a little something for him too. That was Columbus warm, funny, and full of life in his own special way.
His smile is something that will stay with us. It was the kind of smile that could brighten your day without him even trying. His kind heart and playful, witty spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, April 23, 2026, Columbus quietly transitioned at Echols Personal Care Home in Rayle, Georgia. When Columbus was called home, he was welcomed with open arms by his parents and his three sisters, whom he loved dearly Mrs. Mamie Lou (Noble) Wiley, Ms. Julia Lee Noble, and Mrs. Permelia (Noble) Mack. We can take comfort in knowing they are reunited again.
He leaves behind a lifetime of memories to be cherished by his siblings: Mr. Otis Noble, Ms. Eva Noble, Mr. Leon Noble, and Mrs. Harriett (Andre) Russell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. He also leaves behind his dear friends at Echols Personal Care Home and his loving Pleasant Grove Baptist Church family, who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
Columbus may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Curry on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Rayle, GA.
