Servant of God well done rest from thy love employ the battle has been fought and the victory has been won enter into thy master's joy. On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, God in his own wisdom summoned the Angel of death to call home the soul of Deacon Gregory DuBose, at his residence in Elberton, Georgia.
“Not how did he die, but how did he live. Not what did he gain, but what did he give. These are the worths to measure a man as a man regardless of birth.”
Gregory DuBose was born the eldest son to the late Claude DuBose and Shirley Jones DuBose on Thursday, October 17, 1957, in Elberton, GA.
Gregory was educated in the Elbert County School System, graduating with the Class of 1975. After graduating, he entered the work force with Georgia Synthetics for ten years. Then moving on for the next thirty-seven years serving as a sandblaster in the granite industry with Majestic Granite for twenty-nine years. The last eight years with Matthews Granite, formally known as Eagle Granite until his untimely death. Through his years of employment, he believed in working and rarely skipped a beat. Gregory was valued and respected by all his coworkers and was looked to as a man of wisdom, morals, character and with valuable life skills. He was always called upon for his opinions and wise advice. It was always, “Y’all, what does Mr. Greg say."
Greg was a quiet and humble man with hobbies that were simple. He enjoyed time sitting on his front porch, visiting with people in the community, making others laugh, especially children and spending quality time with family and friends. He never met a stranger and could hold a conversation with the best of them! He loved God and people always trying to do what was right. He was a pillar not only to his community but also to his church family, trying his best to fulfil his charge to God. He was a loving faithful servant and leader, serving as a Deacon for many, many years. He will be truly missed by all.
Greg was the patriarch of the family, loving them all equally and unconditionally. He was married to his sweetheart and wife Cheryl Willis for forty-six of their forty-nine years and together only having one son, but reared ten in their home, giving all nick names at birth in which all are known by today. Even though now, he’s resting in the arms of Jesus, Greg will never ever be forgotten in our hearts.
Greg leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Cheryl, son Gregory Cortez (Spike), grandchildren Gabrielle (Lu) and Gregory (Bud), mother Shirley, brothers Dr. Claude T. and Gary, nieces and nephews reared in the home, Dorian (Bubba) (Rayya) DuBose, Tiara (Stank Pot) (Dwayne) Gray, Treasure (C) (Jerdonte) Williams, Joshua (Ace Man) Willis, DJ (Spanky), Dealyn (Deal), Destin (Cat), Aubree (Sunshine), and Baby Jaxon.
