On Saturday, March 22, 2025, a true and faithful servant and legend made his transition. As our Lord and Savior walked around his garden, and saw and unfilled space; with his omnipotence, he dispatched his angels to relocate Deacon James Fulton Bolden, 86, of Bowman, Georgia, and now Deacon Bolden will be singing in the Heavenly choir.
Deacon James Bolden was born June 19, 1939, to the late Freeman Bolden and the late LA James Bolden. He had four siblings to proceed him in death: Lenwood, Eugene, Elnora, and Brenda Bolden.
Deacon Bolden was joined in Holy matrimony to Catherine Heard Bolden who proceeded him death. They were married for over 50 years. Mr. Bolden was a dedicated father to, Lourvon Bolden Lewis who preceded him in death.
At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ and joined Hall Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully as the Chairman of the deacon board for several years. He also was an essential part of the music ministry as he served as one of the lead singers of the male chorus. He attended Bowman Colored School. Deacon Bolden worked faithfully at Oxford Manufacturing Company for over 41 years. After retirement, he joined Elbert County recreational department as a little league umpire. For many years, Mr. Bolden was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #261 for over 60 years where he served as the Worshipful Master, Past Master, 33 rd Degree, as well as an Eastern Star. James Bolden was a songwriter, producer, and recording artist, a legend in his own right and time. He was the founder and one of the lead singers of the legendary quartet group The Perfect Hearts. He, along with the group, traveled the southeastern region of the United States singing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, George M. Heard. Two daughters, Josephine (Carter) Lewis, Elaine Billingsley. Two Brothers, Travis Bolden, Michael (Natasha) Bolden. Five sisters, Dorothy Lawrence, Mamie (Willie) Moon, Patricia Fortson, Blondene (Mack) Owensby, Faye Bolden. Four brothers-in- laws, George Heard, David (Mary) Heard, Paul Heard, Otis (Nancy) Heard. Two sisters-in-laws, Alma Oliver and Jerri Bolden. Three special brothers, Larry Teasley, Gerron Teasley and Preston Butler. Nine grandchildren, two of which he raised as his own, Temica Fortune and Akeiba Constant. Six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family are receiving friends of the community at the home of Deacon Bolden at 173 Jackson St. Bowman, GA.
Public viewing will be held on Wednesday March 26, 2025, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.

The family will be at the funeral home beginning at 3:00pm on Thursday, March 27, 2025, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00pm, located at Hall Grove Baptist Church - Bowman, GA.
Interment service will follow the funeral service located at Hall Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
