Elma Louise (Strong) Hubbard

Mrs. Elma Louise (Strong) Hubbard, a beloved grandmother, sister and aunt made her transition to her sweet home on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia.

Ms. Elma L. Hubbard was born on August 7, 1937 to the late Buddy and Rosella (Fortson) Strong. She entered the gates of eternity on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the age of 86. Elma was born in Oglethorpe County and was the sixth of nine children.

Elma to her family was known as Suga Bear, Elmo or El El and the love she had for her family was shown daily. She was a graduate from the Madison County School System class of 1956. Elma retired from what was then known as ConAgra Foods there she was a mother figure and friend to many of her co-workers and gained the name Mother Hubbard. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church of Carlton, GA at an early age.

Elma was preceded in death by her children Brenda Strong Dixon, Rev. John Wayne Strong and many other family members, who awaited her arrival at the gates of Heaven.

Elma leaves to cherish her memories, five grandchildren, Joseph Strong, Chauncey Dixon, Terry (Candace) Turner, Venita Strong and Monica Strong; thirteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Echols; two brothers, Henry Grady (Gwen) Strong and Morris (Janie) Strong; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends of the community from 12:00 - 2:00pm on Friday. 

Public Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 10:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 1:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Interment will follow the funeral service at Lincoln Height's Cemetery - Elberton, GA.
