Mrs. Ethel (Hester) Ivey, age 96, peacefully departed this life on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her family in Gainesville, Georgia.
Ms. Ethel Ivery was born February 1, 1928, to the late Ms. Alice Cade Hester and late Mr. Lamar Hester.
Ethel attended the Elbert County School System. She joined Hunter’s Chapel Methodist Church at an early age. She was a caretaker for many years. Ethel was fondly known as “Thick” by those who loved and knew her. Ethel was a HUGE Braves fan!!!!!! Ethel lived a full and vibrant life, witnessing nearly a century of change and progress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Willie James Ivery, son Willie C. Ivery, daughter Alice Odister, daughter Everleena Ivery and grandson Robert “Junebug” Finch.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Margaret (Robert) Finch, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ivery, a special son-in-law, Richard O Cornelius Sr. (Retia), a special nephew, Phyllis Hester; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 12:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Interment Service will follow the funeral service at Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
