Mrs. Evelynette D. Brewer peacefully departed from this life on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia.
Evelynette Brewer daughter of the late Dora Bell Downer and James Ballard was born October 29, 1951 in Oglethorpe County.
She graduated salutatorian from Burney Harris High School in Athens, GA in 1969. She joined Rocky Branch Baptist Church at an early age but later moved her membership to Union Grove before becoming a founder and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Elberton, Georgia.
She was employed at Burlington/JP Stevens/West Point Pepperell for 17 years. Before retiring, she worked numerous other jobs throughout the Elberton community.
Her parents, a sister Leola Hawes, a brother James Downer, a brother-in-law Nathaniel Johnson and her godson Jondale Grimes, preceded her in death.
Net as she was often called, departed this life on June 15, 2024 after a short battle with breast cancer.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories: two daughters, Wanda Appling of Elberton, GA AND Matilda Sherese Brewer of Athens, GA. A sister, Virginia Johnson of Warner Robins, GA. Four grandchildren, NaAsia Dubose of Smyrna, GA, Laketa Hill of Elberton, GA, JaShanta Evans and LeJammie Evans both of Athens, GA.
Nine great-grandchildren: Jordan Hill, Lisa Hill, Rhiley Evans, Jaxson Hill, LeJammie, Jr., Olivia Fleming (Evans), Isaiah Smyles, Layla Hill, and Journi Evans. A goddaughter Latona Allen. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She also had two very special friends George Donathan and Rosie Isom that she loved dearly. Secret Santa from Atlanta James Burkes.
Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 12:00 - 6:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. The family will receive friends of the community from 3:00 - 6:00pm on Thursday.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 2:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Interment will follow the funeral service in Fork Grove Cemetery.
