With heavy hearts and deep love, we honor the life of Mr. Frank Edward Mattox a devoted father, cherished family man, and a presence unforgettable to all who knew him.
Frank was born on March 4, 1956, in Hartwell, Georgia, to Leonard Rucker and Ida (Mattox) Hailey, who both preceded him in death.
He was a proud and loving father to his only child, Cephia Blassingame, whom he treasured beyond words. Their bond was unbreakable, filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. He also held a special place in his heart for Jazma, embracing her with unwavering care and support.
Frank graduated from Hart County High School in 1973, where he excelled academically. He was a devoted and hardworking man who dedicated 31 faithful years to Maret Grain and Company. His strong work ethic and commitment earned him the respect and admiration of many.
At a young age, Frank attended Maple Springs Baptist Church with his late grandmother. Later in life, he joined Siloam Church International, where he left a lasting impression on its members. Pastor Jonathon Carter, who he loved dearly and affectionately referred to as “Rev.”, was one of a kind to him and he enjoyed hearing him preach the Word.
He had a love for the game of basketball, both playing and watching it brought him great joy. He stayed active by riding his bike and working in his yard. In quieter moments, he found comfort in watching classic Western television shows.
Born into a large and loving family, Frank shared his life with five brothers: Calvin Hailey (deceased), Winston (April) Hailey, Maurice Hailey, Ronnie (Patricia) Hailey of Hartwell, GA, and Gerald (Tasha) Hailey of Anderson, SC. After the passing of his mother, he lived with his aunt Verlyn (Luther) Martin and his cousin Tony Martin, with whom he shared many cherished memories filled with love, laughter, and joy.
He was preceded in death by five aunts: Juanita (Jimmy) Jones, Dorothy (Mack) Martin, Alma Rucker, Robbie Jo (Walter) Rucker, and Zora (Henry) Tucker; and five uncles: Lloyd (Virginia) Mattox, Kenneth (Ivory) Mattox, Paul (Annie Ruth) Mattox, Billy Rucker, and Thomas Rucker.
He leaves to cherish his memory his surviving aunts and uncles: Verlyn Martin, Margorie Brantley, Minnie Blackwell, Mary Wilcher, Comella Rucker, and Talmadge (Martha) Rucker. He was also a source of joy to a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. His family roots are grounded in strength, resilience, and deep connection.
Frank will be remembered for his kindness, his strength, his gentle spirit, and his sense of humor. He had a calm presence and a warm smile that left a lasting imprint on every heart he touched.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy lives on through the love he gave so freely and the lives he shaped so profoundly. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
