On November 6, 2024, just as the date was coming into existence, in the stillness of darkness, the Lord in his great wisdom dispatched his Angels to Carnesville, Georgia to peacefully relocate Mr. Garnet McMillan Burns from labor to reward, where he is now signing with the Angels in his new heavenly home.
Garnet McMillan (Mack) Burns was born on July 20, 1941, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John D. (Pete) Burns in Carnesville, GA where he resided all of his life. He was a dedicated Deacon at the Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served faithfully until the decline of his health. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Hapesville, GA and also Auto Zone in Lavonia, GA. He was a member of the Zion Gospel singers and the North Georgia Note Singers. Music was a passion for him for the majority of his life. He was proceeded in death by his sister Florence Burns, his brother Ray Burns, two of his sons Johnathan and Stephan Burns, grandson Johnathan Burns, grandaughter Riley Burns, and great grandson Dameon Johnson.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 62 years Mattie Burns, his daughters Michele Burns of the home, Stephanie (Sammy) Feaster of Toccoa, GA and daughter-in-law Lisa Burns of Commerce, GA. Four grandchildren, Lashonda Johnson of Nicholson, GA, Jalen Burns Carnesville, GA, Madison Burns of the home, and Ryan Burns Commerce, GA. His brothers Stanley (Polly) Burns Commere, GA, Carl Burns Carnesville, GA and John D. Burns Commerce, GA. Five sisters, Johnny Mae Darisaw Decatur, GA, Patsy Burns Toccoa, GA, Brenda Burns Stone Mountain, GA, Mickey Burns Hampton, GA, and Vickey Burns Toccoa, GA. Nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by his family, church family, his community, and friends. He was a pillar and example for us all. His legacy will live on and our memories will always remain.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 1:00pm, located at Ellis Chapel C.M.E. Church - Carnesville, GA
Interment Service will follow the funeral service located at Ellis Chapel C.M.E. Church - Carnesville, GA.
