Gayle Spinks Obituary

Mrs. Gayle (Alexander) Spinks was welcomed home on October 17, 2025, by the angels as they carried her soul from St. Mary's Health Care System in Athens, Georgia.

With sadness, love and profound gratitude, the family of Gayle Alexander Spinks,75, of Elberton, Georgia, announced her peaceful passing on Friday, October 17, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Georgia.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Alexander Sr.(Mary), Conyers , Georgie Gloria Grindle (Wayne), Haymarket, Virginia and sibling Jack Alexander Jr. of Warrenton, Virginia.

Gayle is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Jerry Spinks, Elberton, Georgia, and four daughters Michelle Hoffman(Ted) of Haymarket, Virginia, Shannon (Chris) Dennis of Upperville, Virginia, Susan Tierney (Joe) of Gainesville, Virginia and Mia Spinks (Destin) of Elberton, Georgia. 

Gayle is also survived by seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers Gary Alexander (Cindy) Conyers , Georgia,  Wayne Grindle (Wendy) Linden, Virginia and one sister, Pam Williams (Steve) of Mineral, Virginia. 

Gayle was born in Buffalo, New York on March 25, 1950, and later moved to Fairfax, Virginia graduating from Fairfax High School. 

Gayle spent her career in various leadership roles working with Media General Cable, Temporary Solutions and finally retiring from Cox Cable in 2001. 

Gayle and her husband Jerry moved to Elberton, Georgia in 2001 to enjoy their retirement years remodeling and decorating their historic home.

Gayle lived life as an "Angel" filled with love, compassion and care for others. She was a kind and giving person who always put others first. 

In the spirit of placing others first and caring for her community Gayle became certified in becoming a Trauma Recovery Life Coach in 2022 and opened her own business Beautifully Unique Trauma Recovery Coaching LLC as a lifetime dream. 

Deeply devoted to her family and community, her warmth and generosity touched countless lives and will always be remembered with love and appreciation. 

A memorial service and celebration of life for family and friends is being planned for a later date in Warrenton, Virgina.
