On Tuesday, February 13, 2024 the Lord in his infinite wisdom called his faithful servant, Mrs. Helen D. Harper Allen, to receive her eternal reward and take her rest.
Mrs. Helen D. Harper Allen was born on July 3, 1941, in Elberton, Georgia to the late James Albert and Susie Mae Baker Harper.
Helen departed life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Helen graduated from Blackwell Memorial High School, Class of 1961. Helen loved the Lord and received Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of True Believers Outreach Center where she was Head Usher.
On March 29, 1964 (Easter Sunday) Helen married the love of her life Robert Allen, Jr., and together, they built a family and a life filled with love and laughter. Helen cherished her role as a homemaker. She was a devoted wife to Robert, mother to Darryl, Jacqueline, and Donna.
Helen’s commitment to her community was evident through her passion for sharing the gospel and seeing others come to know the Lord as their personal Savior. Helen embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, vibrant, generous, loyal, brave, sense of humor, enormous heart and radiated light. She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile. Helen had immense passion for her family and an unending generosity to others. Helen loved reading her Bible, the Elberton Star, watching Judge Judy, Jerry Springer and CBN.
Helen’s survivors include her dedicated husband Robert Allen, Jr. (over 60 years as a couple); one son, Darryl A. Allen, two daughters, Jacqueline A. Harvin (James), Donna A. Brickle (Gregg); brother, Walter Harper (Canary); two sisters, her twin Evelyn Fitzpatrick (Eddie), Hilda Harper; grandchildren Javaria H. Wright (Corico), Schekira Allen, Darryl Allen, Jr., Destinee Allen, Ikeria Allen, Samiyah Rhodes; a special god-child Hayden Wright; a special niece Lasheki Allen; host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Visitation for will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Mrs. Allen will Lie in State Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Carlton Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral Service for will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Carlton Grove Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Carlton Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
