Henry Edward Smith

Mr. Henry Edward Smith , age 78 of Hartwell, Georgia entered his eternal rest Saturday, June 09, 2023.

Henry Edward Smith was born on March 28, 1945, to Mrs. Beatrice Smith Cade. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Sam and Ethel Smith.

Henry was a member of Hart County Training School Class of 1964. He retired as an independent Paint Contractor after over 50 years of excellent service. Henry joined Norman Grove C.M.E. Church at an early age and remained an active member until death. Henry also served as President of the Elberton - Gainesville District Laity for over 10 years.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Ethel Smith, his mother, Beatrice Smith Cade, Stepfather: Yancey Cade Sr. his brother, Yancey Cade Jr., his nephew/cousin, Robert Baker, his niece/cousin Joann Baker Shiflet, his nephew/cousin Boozie Baker, his wife, Joan Carolyn Smith and his son, Rex Harris Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother/aunt/sister Roberta Smith Baker, his only daughter and only granddaughter, Cathy and Zenzele Smith, his sisters, Betsey Cade Gaines, Jessie Cade Martin (Jimmy), Joyce Cade Tucker (Bent) and Belinda Cade Teasley. He also will be dearly missed by his nephews/cousins, Herman Baker and Willie Lewis Baker. Also left cherish his memories, a special friend, Mahalia Jackson Downer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 9:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Hartwell Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2:00pm located at Norman Grove C.M.E. Church. 

Interment will follow the funeral service at Norman Grove C.M.E. Church Cemetery.
