Irene "Pinky" B. Leverette

Ms. Irene B. Leverette "Pinky", age 88 of Elberton, Georgia entered her eternal rest on Monday, September 18, 2023.

Ms. Irene “Pinky” Beasley Leverette was born September 13, 1935, in Wilkes County, Georgia to the late John Willie Beasley and Mary Alice (Fleming) Brown and reared in the home with her stepfather Cornell Brown. “Pinky” as she was so affectionately called, departed her life on Monday, September 18, 2023, at her home.

At an early age, she joined Shady Grove Baptist Church. She also attended New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. She worked and served faithfully in both churches until her health declined. She was employed as an independent housekeeper for the McClanahan and Willis families in Elberton Georgia for over 50 years. She spent her life making a difference in others with wisdom, joy, and loved to put a smile on the face of anyone she met. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, who was always there when anyone needed her. 

“Pinky” was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Benjamin Franklin Leverette, her parents, brothers John Douglas Fleming (fondly known as Uncle Sonny) and Willie Lewis Brown. Son: Mr. Carl Huff and her grandson Jeremy.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her children: Mary Delois (Thomas) Newman, Catherine Huff, Carolyn Chambliss and Rev. Easter Leverette. Stepchildren: Joni Gaston and Lorenzo Franklin Leverette. 8 Grandchildren: Stergen (Kathleen)Newman, Toby Huff, Quatrita Chambliss, Latoya Chambliss, Carl Demarcus (Alexis)Huff, Michael D. (Raychale)Huff, Benjamin Orlando Thornton and Covenant Irene Andrews. 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Uncle: Mr. Floyd Beasley. Sister-in-law: Beatrice Brown. Daughter-in- law: Shawney Huff. Son-in law: Johnnie Andrews. Special niece: Patricia Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00pm, located at Shady Grove Baptist Church - Tignall, GA. 

Interment will follow the funeral service at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
