Mrs. Jakela Maxwell, age 40 of Hartwell, Georgia entered her eternal rest on Friday, September 29, 2023.
A TIME TO BE BORN
Jakela (McCrary) Maxwell was born on June 8, 1983, in Dallas, Texas to Doris A. McCrary. God gave Doris double blessings on that day. Jakela was born a twin and entered the world with her brother, Jahuie McCrary. Immediate family traveled from Georgia to Texas to lay eyes on the dynamic duo who would affectionately be called “The Twins” or Huie and Kela. Soon thereafter, Doris and her babies relocated to Augusta, Georgia. As a child, Jakela was the quiet twin but always made her presence known with her warm smile and inviting personality yet firm in her convictions. Jakela proclaimed God as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
A TIME TO PLANT AND HARVEST
Jakela matriculated through the Richmond County School System and graduated from Westside High School in 2001. There, she was a standout track and field athlete and basketball player. Following high school, Jakela continued her educational studies and attended Georgia Southern University. She successfully accomplished her goal and graduated in May 2005 earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Finance. Because of her keen eye for finance, Jakela became an instrumental asset as a Fraud Analyst for Bank of America in Kennesaw, Georgia.
A TIME TO LOVE
While attending college, Jakela met the love of her life, her soulmate and helpmate, Nelson Maxwell. Quickly, Jakela and Nelson became inseparable. This match made in heaven became ONE in the eyes of God on September 10, 2011. Together, they created and lived out a beautiful love story. Jakela lived her life with purpose and on purpose. If there was an opportunity to travel, she was going; a chance encounter to shop, she was buying something; hang out and love on family, count her in, especially among her “cousins crew”. Motherhood would soon enter the picture for Jakela. She embraced it and could not wait to meet her bundle of joy. On November 26, 2014, Jakela and Nelson were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Journi Janell Maxwell. They both adored this little girl, unapologetically, and she wholeheartedly became the apple of everyone’s eye.
A TIME TO MOURN
On September 29, 2023, God summoned, and Jakela followed. With a heavy heart, her beloved husband, daughter, mother, and mother-in-love watched her transition peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by an atmosphere of love. At last, Jakela had no more pain to bare. She could finally rest. Jakela was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Bertha McCrary; uncle, Willie Richard McCrary; and big cousin, Felicia Jackson-Zanders.
A TIME TO REMEMBER
To cherish and keep her memory alive, Jakela will be remembered by her loving and devoted husband, Nelson Maxwell and beautiful daughter, Journi J. Maxwell both of Dallas, GA; loving mother, Doris A. McCrary of Augusta, GA; loving brother, Jahuie McCrary of Charlotte, North Carolina; loving mother-in-love, Jacqueline Maxwell of Hartwell, GA; sister-in-love, Latonya (Tyrone) Curry of Hartwell, GA; and brother-in-love, Nacomma (Ellie) Maxwell of Atlanta, GA.
