James Kelly Fortson

Mr. James Kelly Fortson, age 74 of Tignall, Georgia entered his eternal rest Tuesday, November 14, 2023. 

Mr. James Kelly Fortson was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia to the late Mr. Clinton and Mrs. Fordie Lee Fortson. He received his Heavenly wings quietly at Wills Memorial Hospital on November 14, 2023.

James Kelly was educated in the Washington-Wilkes school system and graduated from Washington Central High School in Washington, Georgia. He worked at Trust Georgia. He joined the Reeves Chapel Baptist Church at an early age.

James Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Clinton and Mrs. Fordie Lee Fortson; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Bankston, Mrs. Vernell Holland; five brothers, Mr. Linon Fortson, Mr. Harold Fortson, Mr. Curtis Allen, Mr. Robert Allen, Mr. Lucous Allen all of Tignall, Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mrs. Shirley Harper Fortson; one son, Mr. Alcinder F. Fortson; three sisters, Mrs. Dewitte (Frank) Nunnally, Augusta, Georgia, Mrs. Hazel Daniels, Washington, Georgia, Ms. Rose E. Fortson, Athens, Georgia; four sisters in law, Mrs. Rose Allen, Rayle, Georgia, Ms. Ruby Harper, Elberton, Georgia, Mrs. Mary (Jesse) Hester, Elberton, Georgia, Mrs. Pasty (Jerry) Glaze, Elberton, Georgia; he also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.​​�​��

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Interment will follow the funeral service at Lincoln Heights Cemetery - Elberton, GA.
