Joe White Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. Joe Howard White, affectionately known as Joe Louis Allen. He peacefully departed this life on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Heardmont Health and Rehabilitation in Elberton, Georgia.

Mr. Joe Howard White was born on June 28, 1941, in Elberton, Georgia, to Ms. Mary Kate White. At the age of one, he became a member of the Allen family and was given the name Joe Lewis Allen. He was lovingly raised by Mr. Willie “Bill” Allen and Mrs. Lula (Heard) Allen, whom he affectionately called Dad and Ma.

After their passing, Joe continued to be surrounded by the love and care of his family. His brothers Jim (Gladys) and Willie Ward (Pearl) along with their wives and many other devoted relatives, all played a meaningful role in supporting and caring for him throughout his life.

Mr. Joe Howard (Lewis Allen) White departed this life on Friday April 24, 2026, while under the care of The Heardmont Health & Rehabilitation Nursing Home of Elberton, Georgia; where they LOVED and cared for him till he took his last breath.

Joe loved to hunt, fish, attend and watch drag races. He was also fascinated with motorcycles and antique cars. Joe loved to travel and visit near or far. He was well known to family, friends and neighbors all over but especially in The Bowman Village Apartment Community where he lived for over 35 years. This community really LOVED and looked out for one another. This was where strangers became neighbors, neighbors became friends and friends became family who shared and cared. Joe treasured his neighbors and the relationships he made there.

Joe worked for The Seigler’s Oil Company for many years. To this employment he gained another family who still appreciates and cherishes priceless memories established throughout the years.

In addition to his parents Mary Kate (White) Allen; Willie and Lula Allen; Joe was preceded in death by his son Vincent Tate; his siblings Stark Allen, Charles Allen, Annie Laura (Allen) Brown, Willie Ward Allen, Jim Lewis Allen, Pearlie Lucille Allen, Dempsy Allen, Adam Allen, Davis Allen, Asbury Allen, Alethea Robbie (Allen) Troutman.

Joe’s memories are left to be cherished by his daughter Judy Sims of Elberton, GA; his son Scottie (Sonja) Glaze of Elberton, GA; brothers Harrison Allen of Elberton, GA, Bobby Allen of Amarillo, TX, Melvin (Lola) Allen of Belton, SC; sister Anita Allen (Jimmy) of Summerset, NJ. Joe was also LOVED by his ten grandchildren; and a host of his nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Joe will be missed for his willingness to help others and his sense of humor. We THANK GOD for the opportunity to have known him.
