John Willie White "Red", age 86 of Hartwell, Georgia entered his eternal rest Sunday, March 26, 2023.
John Willie White departed this life on March 26, 2023, at the home. He was a son of the late Mance and Hattie Mae (Rucker)
White.
John obtained his education from Hart County Training School in Hartwell, Georgia. After returning home from Vietnam, he obtained employment at BASF Fibers a Division of Dow chemical company in Anderson, South Carolina. While employed at BASF, John devised a method to do his job that saved their team 45 minutes. He and his team received a substantial cash award and time off.
John joined Hartwell First Baptist Church at an early age. During his time at First Baptist, he served as the treasurer. He loved his family, working on cars (he called himself the shade tree mechanic), playing in a band, when he was in Germany and after returning home. In addition to being known as “Red” or Red White he is also known as Hook, Eagle, White Hawk or just plain Hawk.
Preceding him in death are his parents. Brothers: Clifford Sr. (Margurite), Paul (Maggie), Leroy Sr. (Vera), Eldry, Awia Charles and Bruce. Sisters: Fannie (Fess) Harper, Sarah and Eunice (Marvin) Wilkerson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Earnestine. Son: John Jr. of Townville, South Carolina. Daughter: Erica White of Anderson, South Carolina. Granddaughters: Janessa White-Jones, Janise White-Hill and nephew raised in the home, James Kincaid. Sisters-In-Law: Maxine White of Cleveland, OH; Josephine Wilkins of Stone Mountain, GA. Cathy Stowers of Hartwell, GA. Brother-In-Law: Oscar Alexander of Albany, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, 12:00 - 7:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home Hartwell Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00pm on Friday, April 7, 2023, located at Mack's Funeral Home Hartwell Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 11:00am located at Mack's Funeral Home Hartwell Chapel.
Interment will follow the funeral service at Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Military Honors.
