Obituary
Johnnie Lou Mattox, age 88 of Elberton, Georgia entered her eternal rest on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
Mrs. Johnnie Lou “Noot” Mattox was born on January 28, 1935, in Wilkes County, Georgia to the late Mr. Johnny Mattox and Mrs. Mabel Wyms Mattox. On Sunday, March 12, 2023, an angel of mercy rescued her from this world at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
In eternity she now joins her parents, sisters: Mrs. Veactrice Fortson, Mrs. Leila M. McIntosh and brother: Mr. John Robert Burton.
“Noot” as she was affectionally called by her family and friends was an excellent cook, often making cakes and pies for others before her health began to decline. She was employed domestically and retired from magnolia estates as a cook.
She was a member of Lofton Grove Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Mother’s Board, Church Missionary treasurer and choir.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son: Larry D. Mattox. Three loving grandchildren’s: Minister Michelle (Kenneth) Allen-Lee, Tarqui Allen and Syhnia Mattox. Four Great Grandchildren: Jaylen Allen, Rakim Mattox, Darrious Jackson and Zoey Jackson. Two Sisters: Sara Edna Hughes and Mary E. Burns. One Uncle: Edward (Doretha) Wyms. God-Children: Evita Cobo and Mike Cobo. Loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and some very caring and compassionate neighbors.
The family will receive friends of the community at the home of Mrs. Sara Hughes located at 1446 Lena Drive Elberton, Georgia 30635; beginning on Monday, March 13, 2023.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 1:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Interment will follow funeral services at Lincoln Height's Cemetery - Elberton, GA.
