Those we have held in our arms for a little while, we will one day hold in our hearts forever Mrs. Laura Mae (Heard) Harper gracefully departed this life to her new home on August 24, 2024, at her residence in Elberton, Georgia.
Laura Mae (Heard) Harper was a strong-willed woman, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 81 years old.
Laura Mae was a very caring and spiritual woman sought the best for everyone she loved and cared for, she loved her family so much. She was a caregiver and housekeeper she cleaned for a lot of people until she had her stroke in 2011. She walked with the faith of the Lord and took his words in every situation that ever occurred in her life. Her incredible life and memories will always be cherished.
Laura Mae was preceded in death by her parents Bessie (Brown) Heard and Adam Heard, Sr.; her husband Luther Henry Harper; her children Henrietta Harper, Curtis Harper, Sr., Luther Kenny Harper; her granddaughters Vashawn Ellison, Kenya Davis; her great granddaughters Bre’Asia Teasley, Ashley Teasley; her sisters Emma Sue Heard, M E Allen; her brothers Willie James Head, Robert Heard, Henry Heard.
Laura Mae Harper leaves her daughter, Laura Frances Browner; siblings, Lula (Heard) Johnson, Mozelle (Heard) Hill, Adam (Addie Ree) Heard, Jr.; fourteen grandchildren she reared in her home, Jennifer Harper, Steve Allen, Chris Harper, Lisa Allen, Jennifer Harper, Nundi Huff, Sardains Harper, Curtis Harper, Jr., Bashawn Wilkins, Mashawn Davenport, Shante Langston, Shermane Allen, Shekela Usher, Sherman Harper; thirteen great grandchildren reared in the home, Blundy Gaines, William Oglesby, Jr., David Allen, Rasheeda Allen, Jeffrey Allen, Malik Rogers, Atavion Langston, Kurtasia Langston, Avery Langston, Jr., Kiaheshia Gaines, Lamarkcus Harper, Tyrez Allen, Tytavious Allen; Laura Mae was blessed to have sixteen grandchildren, eighty great grandchildren, thirty-nine great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Betty (Charlie) Jones; a special child, Eric Perrin; her very close friends, Mary Stanley, Rachel Napoleon, Mamie Perrin, Cassandra Glaze; a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
The family are receiving friends of the community at her residence located at 662 Pulliam St. Elberton, Georgia 30635.
Public Visitation for Mrs. Harper will be Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 12:00pm until 5:00pm - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Harper will be Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 2:00pm at Mack's Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Elberton Chapel.
Interment service will follow the funeral service at Potter's Church Cemetery - Elberton, Georgia.
