Mrs. Lucretia (Yvette) Williams Polk was born on May 15, 1974, to Mr. Ronald Williams and Eva Williams in Elberton, Georgia. She made her transition to her heavenly home on September 18, 2022, at Henry Medical Center, Stockbridge, Georgia.
Yvette accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Hall Grove Baptist Church under the late Reverend John B. Maxwell. She was a faithful servant and member of the adult choir, the usher board, and was also the assistant treasurer and secretary. She attended Elbert County Comprehensive High School, Elberton, Georgia (Class of 1992) and Georgia College, Milledgeville, Georgia (Class of 1996). She was an employee of MetLife for well over 15 years.
Yvette cherished her husband, daughters, Laila and Lauryn, her parents, her sister, her nephew, family, and friends. She was very involved in her daughter’s school activities and communities in both Ellenwood, Georgia and Dewy Rose, Georgia. She loved to sing and could even play the alto saxophone. Lest we forget, she was also an Elbert County Comprehensive High School Homecoming Queen. Her physical presence, smile, and jokes always filled a room with warmth. She was always willing to lend an ear to be a listener and comforter to others, a helping hand to help in any way she could, an encouraging word that gave indescribable comfort, the best hug, and said a prayer or sang a song that spoke to many in sheer volume. She loved God, felt His presence every day, and admired the splendor of His great and mighty work in every way.
To cherish her memory is the love of her life Mr. Eugene (“JT”) Polk, III of over 24 years, and their two daughters, Miss Laila Polk and Miss Lauryn Polk. She is survived by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Williams, her sister, Dr. Crystal Washington of Stafford, Virginia, and her two brothers/cousins, Mr. Marshall (Trita) Williams of Elberton, Georgia and Mr. Scott (Courtney) Williams of Monroe, Georgia, brother-in-law Mr. Howard Polk and his son King James Polk of Albany, Georgia. Her surviving uncles are Mr. Joe (Mattie) Williams of Dewy Rose, Georgia, Mr. Ricky (Brenda) Williams of Dewy Rose, Georgia, Mr. Daniel (Evalene) Rucker of Hartwell, Georgia, Mr. Joseph (Jeannie Mae) Rucker of Elberton, Georgia, Mr. Felix Burton of Elberton, Georgia, as well as her late uncle, Elvis Williams; five surviving aunts, Mrs. Mary (Charles) Echols of Dewy Rose, Georgia, Mrs. Christine (Luscious) Partlow of Royston, Georgia, Mrs. Lillie (Nelson) Burton of Dewy Rose, Georgia, Minister Annie Ruth (late Marshall) Williams of Elberton, Georgia, Ms. Janie (late Willie Edward “Jr”) Williams of Elberton, Georgia, Ms. Trenita Rucker of Hartwell, Georgia, and Ms. Henrietta (late Wilbert) Williams of Bowman, Georgia.
