On Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the close of the day, in the stillness of darkness, the Lord in his great wisdom dispatched his angels to peacefully relocate a true and faithful servant Mrs. Mary Frances (Harper) Allen, from her earthly home on Burke Street, Elberton, Georgia to her new Heavenly home.
Today Represents A Chapter Completed,
A Page Turned;
A Life Well Lived,
And A Rest Well Earned.
Mary Frances (Harper) Allen, born on December 29, 1934, in Elberton, Georgia, peacefully departed this life on June 29, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of William Lloyd Harper and Ellie (Hill) Harper. Mary's early years were shaped by the nurturing community of Elberton, where she received her education in the esteemed Elbert County public schools. She graduated with distinction from Blackwell Memorial High School, leaving a lasting mark on her classmates and teachers alike.
Following her graduation, Mary ventured to Chicago to pursue a career in nursing, driven by her compassionate spirit and desire to care for others. Ultimately, her heart led her back to Elberton, Georgia where she found her true love and life partner, Roosevelt Allen, Sr. Together, their union was blessed with three children who were the center of Mary's world: Linda (Alphonzo), Glenda (Lionel), and Roosevelt, Jr (Rozetta).
Mary was a devoted mother whose love and guidance shaped her children into the remarkable individuals they are today. Her family was her greatest source of pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Mary's faith in God was unwavering and she was a pillar of strength and wisdom in her Macedonia church family. Her commitment to service was evident through her leadership roles at the local, regional, and state levels within her church organization.
In addition to her children, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion through her ten grandchildren: Brandon, Jasmine, Justin (Niqua), Andrew (Natsuki), Jordan, Nicholas, Lisa (Andrion), Garrett, Ryan, and Alphonzo O'Neal (Sabrina); and four great-grandchildren: Adam, Addison, Adara, and Preston. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Lucille Stribling of Elberton, brother-in-law Elder James (Lorene) Allen, sister-in-law Everlena Allen all of Knoxville, TN, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and relatives who were touched by her kindness and grace.
Mary had a zest for life and a passion for collecting antiques, experimenting with new recipes, and using her gift of speech to uplift and inspire others. Her work ethic, values, and infectious smile endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary Frances (Harper) Allen's legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith. Mary's journey on earth may have come to an end, but her spirit will forever live on in the cherished memories of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband and embraced in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.
