Monica Davis-Hagood Obituary

Monica Renae Davis-Hagood, age 55, received and answered the call from the Heavenly Father on February 17, 2023. She was born August 28, 1967, in Elberton, Georgia to Mr. Carl and Mrs.Wadene Davis.

At an early age, Renae enjoyed going to church. During the early years, she attended Tates Grove Baptist Church and became a follower of Jesus Christ. Later, she moved her membership to Carlton Grove Baptist Church where she ministered to others by serving as the secretary, youth ministry coordinator, and a kitchen committee member.

Education was a priority set by Renae’s parents. After graduating from Elbert County High School, Renae attended and graduated from Savannah State University. She demonstrated her God-given talent of communication and managerial skills to serve as an Office Manager and Supervisor in the healthcare field in Savannah and later in Colbert, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina, and Athens, Georgia.

While residing in Savannah, Renae met and fell in love with her husband, Harold Hagood, Sr. She and Harold often shared the funny story of how they met under false names. Yet, it did not stop their love from growing and sharing 29 years of marriage; three beautiful children, and one grandchild.

Renae had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. Her life was a living example of 2 Corinthians 9:7-- “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” She was willing to help those in need and did so in private. To show how much she loved people, Renae often shared stories, encouraging words, and most of all her beautiful smile. It suited her servant heart.

Renae leaves to cherish her loving husband, Mr. Harold Hagood, Sr.; parents Mr. Carl and Mrs.Wadene Davis; two daughters Ariona Hagood (a special son-in-law, Keldric), Arin Hagood; one son, Harold Hagood, Jr, one granddaughter, Kinsley; one brother, Stanley (Anna) Davis; and one sister, Carla (Mike) Williams. She leaves behind a special bond with Melesa Gary and John (Tiffany) Gary, who grew up together more as siblings rather than cousins in Renae’s eyes. In addition, Renae loved and treasured several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, one great nephew, cousins, and godchildren. Renae had a special relationship and bond with all of her family members. She left a legacy of love to all she encountered.

Family will be accepting visitors from the hours of 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM starting on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at both the home of Mr. Harold Hagood and the home of Mr. & Mrs. Davis. At The request of the family please respect the posted visiting hours. Funeral services will be held at Carlton Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
