God is his own divine way called home the soul of Mr. Nathel Leonard Moon, age 81 on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, may you take comfort in knowing there is one more angel above us.
Nathel Leonard Moon was born September 21, 1943, to Leo and Ethel Moon. He departed this life October 20, 2024. He joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and graduated from Blackwell Memorial High School in 1961. Nathel enlisted the United States Army and was an expert Marksman in Vietnam War. He returned home and married Ethelene Banks in 1968.
Nathel retired from ABB/Power Partners of Athens, Georgia in 2009. Nathel loved dancing, singing and was passionate about baseball. He played baseball as a shortstop with the St. Paul Braves. His love for baseball fueled him to help with organizing youth league sports in the community. Most of all Nathel will be remembered for his huge contagious smile, and kind loving personality.
Nathel was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, Charles Moon and Joe Moon, sisters Annie Moon Edmonds, Peggy Moon Heard, Helen Moon Allen, and Jannet Moon.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Jackie (Henry) Jones of Elberton Ga, Stephanie (Kennedy) Tate of Elberton Ga, Shawn (Kendra) Moon of Elberton, Ga, Mecole (Danielle) Hardman, of Winder, Ga, Juan (Jenneh) Moon of Snellville, Ga, Shante Moon of Elberton, Ga. His brother Fred Moon Sr. of Elberton, Georgia; his sisters Willera Moon Allen, Mary Moon Downer, both of Elberton, Georgia, Emma Moon Tate Lilburn, Georgia.; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 2:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Interment Service will follow the funeral service located at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery - Elberton, GA.
