Phillip Walton Obituary

Mr. Phillip O'Neal Walton, 68 of Atlanta, Georgia made his transition from earth to his eternal home on August 24, 2024, at the Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia.

On August 24, 2024, Phillip O’Neal Walton passed away, leaving a profound legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Born on June 3, 1956, Phillip showcased his talents early as a standout basketball player, graduating from Elbert County High School in 1974. Though he began his studies at Albany State University, his deep sense of duty led him to serve his country in the United States Army. After his service, Phillip built a thriving career with Atlanta Gas and channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into founding Walton’s Heating and Air, a business that became a cornerstone of his community.

Phillip was the beloved son of Bertha Walton, who preceded him in death, along with his sisters Bessie Walton, Carolyn Marie Walton, and Helen Willis, his brother Robert L. Walton, and his son Terell Walton.

He is survived by his son, Kelvin Fortson (Lisa) of Lexington, GA; grandchildren: Kevin Fortson of Tennessee and Acura Fortson of California; brothers: Frederick Dean Walton (Louise) of Elberton, GA, William Dean (Vernessa) of Elberton, GA, and Charles Dean (Debra) of Connecticut; sisters: Matilda Walton Perrin of Elberton, GA, Wendy Sepateh of Riverdale, GA, Terry David (Jerry) of Athens, GA, Jeanette Walton Carter of Elberton, GA, Eleanor Cornelius of Forest Park, GA, Florence Dean of Fairburn, GA, Thelma Elaine Benard of Elberton, GA and Maria Teasley of Elberton, GA. Phillip also shared a special bond with his cousins: Carl L. Walton (Sarah) of Elberton, GA, Angela W. Watkins of Atlanta, GA, Rosa Cullars (Jimmy) of Elberton, GA, and Alice Walton Johnson of Elberton, GA, who were raised in the home as siblings. He remained close to his ex-wife, Harriet Walton, who continues to be a dear friend. Phillip is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Phillip was cherished by his family and friends. His entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to his community, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
