Mrs. Queen Victoria (Tate) Burton was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at her residence on Bobby Brown State Park Road. She was born on December 23, 1949, to the late Mr. Samuel L. Wall and the late Mrs. Gussie Lee (Tate) Coleman in Elbert County, GA.
Realizing early in her life she needed a close relationship with God, she joined Tate’s Grove Baptist Church. She served in the New Tate's Grove Church’s family through the Ushers Ministry. Queen’s love for New Tate’s Grove was shown through willingness to participate in whatever task she was asked to do for the church until her health began to decline. Although she was unable to attend services she still held closely to God’s unchanging hands throughout her journey.
Queen was preceded in death by her son, Terence Burton.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband: Mr. Cordell Burton Jr.; two daughters: Rev. Tujuana Griffin (Greg Griffin) of Ninety-Six SC, and Tessa Burton of Elberton GA; four grandchildren: Victoria Griffin of Charlotte NC, Tatravion “Tae” Burton of Charlotte NC, Timorris “Nate” Burton of Elberton GA and RJ Smith of Elberton GA; one great-granddaughter: Zoe of Charlotte NC; one sister: Bertha Huff (Linton) of Elberton, GA; nine brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Deckrise Moore (Rudy), Claude Burton, Sarah Montgomery, Barbara Gordon, James Baker (Henrietta), Harold Baker, Charles Baker, Ruthie Anderson (Eric), and Lamark Baker; (Tamala) three step children: Ann Davis (Alton), Rodney Tillman (Latoya) and Odell Tillman; nieces: Brandi Duncan (Omar) and Marisha “Sherease” Fulwood (Darryl) and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
To her family, she was the foundation that held it all together. Her loving and caring manner has touched far beyond the family dynamics and reached throughout her community. She was a devoted woman of God that will be missed by all.
