Reba (Starks) Oglesby

Mrs. Reba Starks Oglesby, age 89 of Elberton, Georgia entered her eternal rest Sunday, June 11, 2023.

Reba Starks Oglesby was born on December 05, 1933, to the late Paul and Katie Starks. Reba departed this life peacefully at home on June 11, 2023.

At an early age, Reba was raised up in St. John Baptist Church and later in life became a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church where she served for over 70 years. Reba loved the Lord and became a member of the Mother’s Board and Senior Mission Ministries. Reba was employed by Elberton Manufactory for many years. After retirement she became a substitute teacher for Elbert County School System.

To know Reba is to love Reba. Her smile, personality and humor would light up a room. She loved everyone, especially her family. Reba was married to the late Lingberg Oglesby and to this union eight children were born. Reba is preceded in death by her children: Paul Oglesby, Charles Oglesby, Julia Mae Oglesby and Tony Oglesby. Great-Grandchild: Douglas Oglesby Jr. Sisters: Joe Barksdale, Lena Rucker, Lettie Starks, Freddie Cox and Mildred Banks. Brother: L.D. Starks.

She leaves to cherish many wonderful memories: Four children: Linda Fortson of Elberton, Georgia; Kenneth (Philander) Oglesby of Knoxville, Tennessee; Cleavie Smith and Randy Oglesby both of Elberton, Georgia. Three Daughter-In-Laws: Bonnie Oglesby, Lucille Oglesby and Vannessa Oglesby. Three Sisters: Mattie Allen, Mamie Heard and Lizzie Geter. Twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren,16 great-great grandchildren. One step granddaughter, One step great-granddaughter. A host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2:00pm located at Maple Springs Baptist Church. 

Interment will follow the funeral service at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
