Rita Anita Wilkins

Ms. Rita A. Wilkins, age 63 made her transition from this Earthly house to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in Hephzibah, Georgia.

Rita was born on August 17, 1961, in Elberton, GA, to the late James Cleveland and Thelma Harper Wilkins.

Rita graduated from Elbert County Comprehensive High School and was a member of the Class of 79.

After graduating, Rita attended Paine College and Athens Technical College. She later went on to graduate from Augusta Technical College with an Associate Degree in Information System Technology. She continued her education path by obtaining a bachelor’s degree of Business Management from Southern Wesleyan University. She later obtained a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix. Before becoming ill, Rita was close to completing her Doctor’s Degree in Organization of Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Rita worked many years at Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant – GA as a Power Document Control Clerk. Later, Rita was employed by Savannah River Site-SRS as a dispatcher.

Lastly, she retired from Westinghouse Safety Management Solutions- WSMS after many years of service.

At an early age, Rita gave her life to Christ and joined Lofton Grove Baptist Church. Later, Rita joined and became a member of Gardner Grove Baptist Church in Augusta, GA. Where she served faithfully until her health begin to decline.

Her memories will forever be loved and cherished by her son, James (Sedquia) Wilkins of Augusta, GA; one granddaughter, Kasi I. Wilkins of Huntersville, NC; one sister, Renee Wilkins Boatwright of Augusta, GA., five aunts, Pauline Z. Wilkins of Atlanta, GA, Evelyn Fitzpatrick of Decatur, GA, Hilda Harper of Miami Lakes, FL, Canary Harper and Kathryn Harper, both of Elberton, GA; three uncles, William H. Wilkins, ll, of Atlanta, GA, Walter Harper and Robert Allen, both of Elberton, GA; one niece, Sierra M. Boatwright of Augusta, GA, and one nephew, Jeremy M. Boatwright of Augusta, GA; two God-sisters, Sharon Robinson, of Augusta, GA; and Teresa Doyle-Reid of San Diego, CA.

Two Goddaughters, Destiny Jordan of Charlotte, NC, Nadzia Collins of Aiken, SC, and one Godson, Gilbert Price, lV of Augusta, GA; four close friends, Velvet B. Duncan of Augusta, GA, Tarsha S. Rouse of Williston, SC, Brenda Sondej of Elberton, GA and Hazel Newsome of Elberton, GA; and a host of cousins and friends.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00pm, located at Oak Grove Baptist Church. 

Interment will follow the funeral service located at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will be receiving friends of the community at the home of Mrs. Lucile Stribling.
