On Sunday, March 30, 2025, an author, a family historian, a loving soul by the name of Mrs. Ruby A. Boyd received her wings from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and now her beautiful soul is at rest.
Ruby Boyd, a devoted and God-fearing woman, peacefully departed this life at the age of 79. Born on January 8, 1946, in Elberton, Georgia, Ruby was the beloved daughter of James Alexander and Carrie Ruth Fouch Alexander. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, a loving mother, and a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering faith.
Ruby was educated at Calumet High School and dedicated her professional life to clerical work, later becoming an author and a web site owner. She worked with the Federal Government and retired after a career marked by diligence and integrity. Her intelligence, work ethic, and sense of purpose were evident in all that she did.
Ruby was married to John Lee Boyd, who preceded her in death, and together they built a life filled with family and love. Traveling and living in many places across the United States to Tel Aviv, Israel where they spent many years with family and friends.
Ruby was a proud mother to her children: Darryl Christian, Anita Boyd (who preceded her in death), Daphne Boyd, Johnathan Boyd, and a proud bonus mother to Avnah Davis-Long, and Arlene Davis-Martin. She nurtured each of them with devotion, instilling in them strong values and a deep sense of faith.
She is also remembered by her cherished siblings: Billy Alexander, Carlos Alexander, Mario Alexander, Amalia (Winnette) Williams, Jimmie Dale (Nahrah), Antoinette Alexander, Bashan (Minnie) Ward, and Hazel Whitfield; Grandchildren: Haven Pruitt, Camara Pilar Pruitt, Shaina Boyd, Ethan Boyd, Jaylen Huff, Justin Jabari’ Huff, Aaron Florence, Brittany Thornton, Liann Thornton, Jamicia Deshun Umble, Chance Alexander Umble, and Jamal Boyd and bonus grandchild Corbin. As well as many nieces and nephews. Her bond with her family was a testament to her loving and giving spirit.
The family will be receiving friends and family at the funeral home from 4:00pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, April 10, 2025, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 1:00pm, located at Maple Springs Baptist Church, Dewy Rose, GA.
Interment service will follow the funeral service located at Maple Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
