Steven Scott "Scottie" Thornton

On December 16, 2025, a little before noon, the Lord in his great wisdom dispatched an angel quietly to escort Mr. Steven Scott "Scottie" Thornton, of Elberton, Georgia, out of this life to relocate to her new heavenly home, not made by hand.

“Scottie” was born on September 27, 1966, in Elberton, Georgia, to the late Zoras Lee and Louise Thornton. “Scottie” was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings – Beverly Gaines, Janice Thornton, and Zoras Thornton, Jr. “Scottie” attended Elbert County School System. He learned to read and delighted in reading the Bible and other books. He attended Rucker’s Grove Baptist Church with his beloved parents.

He leaves three siblings to cherish his memory: William (Shelby) Thornton, Rev. Eddie (Betty) Thornton and Clarence Thornton, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 1:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel. 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00pm, located at Ruckers Grove Baptist Church. 

Interment will immediately follow the funeral service located at Ruckers Grove Baptist Church.
