Tyrone Harper Obituary

Mr. Tyrone Bernard Harper, age 45 of Athens, Georgia (formally of Elberton, Georgia) quietly and peacefully departed from this life on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Saint Mary's Health Care System in Athens, Georgia.

Mr. Tyrone Benard Harper was born in Royston, Georgia on February 8, 1979, to the late Mr. James Harper and Mrs. Florine (Willis) Harper. What a joy it was to have twin boys born to this union Tyrone and Tyree. Tyrone and his siblings were reared in the home with their grandmother, Mrs. Marie “Rie” (Jones) Willis.

At an early age Tyrone joined the Tate’s Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. William Evans, Jr. He attended Elbert County School System and graduated with class of 1997 from the Elbert County Comprehensive High School. He worked many years at Pilgrim’s Pride.

Tyrone was a loving father, brother and uncle who will forever be missed. To many family members and friends, he was known as “Black Jesus”.

He gained his wings on July 20, 2024, and crossed over to the other side where he met his loving parents Mr. James “Pete” Harper and Mrs. Florine (Willis) Harper; his beloved grandmother, Mrs. Marie “Rie” Jones Willis; and his twin brother, Mr. Tyree Shernard “Pete” Harper.
