Mrs. Vivian L. Rucker Chapman, age 76 of Atlanta, Georgia formerly of Elberton, Georgia entered her eternal rest on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Vivian Lavon Rucker Chapman was born in Elberton, GA on July 4, 1947 to the union of Omar H. Rucker and Odessa B. Pulliam Rucker.
She joined the White’s Chapel CME Church and participated in numerous activities. After graduating as Salutatorian of her high school class, she moved to Atlanta and received her bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University in psychology. Upon graduating, she moved to Michigan and received her master’s degree from Michigan State University in social science. During her studies at Michigan State, she found a love in working with children which pursued her in to returning to Atlanta where she began working as a social worker. As a result of her passion for helping the youth, she went on to open and run a group home for young troubled girls.
Vivian loved to travel especially with her family. She was a sports enthusiast and you could always catch her watching an old western movie. She loved to fish ever since she was a little girl. She also was a great baker and will forever be remembered by her infamous chocolate cake.
Vivian departed this life on December 17, 2023. She joins her late mother, father, husband, Joesph E. Chapman, brothers James E. White and Clifford L. Rucker. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons Jjuan Chapman and Nicholas (Angela) Chapman; two grandsons, Harrison Chapman and Langston Chapman; one sister, Evelyn (Addison) Jones and one brother, Clark (Fannie) Rucker; a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed, but we celebrate and give glory to God for allowing us to share her life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 12:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 2:30pm, located at Whites Chapel C.M.E. Church.
