William Howard Taft Taggart, age 61, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Elberton, Georgia.

Mr. William Howard Taft Taggart was born May 9, 1962, to the late Jeroleen Elizabeth Taggart. He transitioned into eternal rest on February 29, 2024. He received his education in the Elbert County Public School System. William was a member of the Lofton Grove Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board. Everyone that knew him addressed him by his middle name Howard. Howard was family oriented. He loved his family and called some family members daily and others at least twice a week. Howard would ALWAYS end his conversations with I LOVE YOU! Howard loved to play cards, visit with family, friends and enjoyed watching “In the Heat of the Night, The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal”. During Howard’s 7th grade year in school, you would see him riding on his bicycle all around the city of Elberton daily working on his paper route delivering the Anderson Independent.

He worked in the school system as a janitor for several years and worked at Pilgrim’s Pride with the Sanitation Department. Howard was preceded in death by his mother Jeroleen Elizabeth Taggart, his father Alton Thomas Almond, brothers Richard Gregory Taggart and John Woodrow Taggart.

Howard leaves to cherish his memories his sisters, Henrietta Taggart Williams, Wilhelmena Taggart Bowman; a devoted friend and companion Joann Anderson; sister-in-law Winona Smith; stepchildren, Stephanie A. (Terrance) McGuire, Trinnette Anderson; step grandchildren, Shameka Huff McGuire, Terrance McGuire, Jr., ShanTerrius McGuire, Knowledge McGuire, Carmya Davis, True McGuire, Lavynn McGuire, Chozhen McGuire, Ona’stee McGuire; nieces, Anita Bowman, Rashyani Montgomery; nephews, Charles E. (Tanzie) Allen, Jr., Chadwick D. (Mildred) Allen, Aaron O. Bowman, Jamarcus Taggart; great nieces Shaquita N. Holland, Anitra H. Davis, Chandra Mattox, Patricia A. Holland, Kyra N. Holland, Najah Allen, Kelisha Allen; great nephews Darrell Bowman, Elijah Allen; close friends, Lee Davis, Debra Carter and other relatives.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 2:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home Elberton Chapel.
