My heart felt thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. I had the privilege of teaching Dre when he was in kindergarten. He was the most precious child and grew into a respectable, kind hearted young man with a smile just a big. He was a joy to be around and treated others as God would have us do. He was a blessing to me.

Dre was my son Caleb's first forever friend. They made an immediate connection in first grade at Nancy Hart Elementary and remained close through twelfth grade. Dre was like one of my own boys. They went on to different colleges but still they stayed close and we saw Dre at every school break. It's so hard to talk about Dre in the past tense. His future was so bright and he was a fabulous role model for all. To say he will be missed is not adequate - our hearts ache for him and his family. Our comfort comes from knowing that Dre was secure in his salvation and relationship with Jesus. We know we'll see him again! Our thoughts and prayers are with Rida and his family, much love to you all.

Dre was my neighbor at Clemson, and pretty much every day, no matter what time of day, when I was driving in or out of the neighborhood I would see him walking his golden retriever around the neighborhood. He always had a huge smile on his face, and his dog always looked so happy too. My roommates and I would always say he was the luckiest dog to have such a caring, active, and compassionate owner. While I never met him, he left an impression on me because he seemed so happy, always waved, and seemed like a very cheerful guy

My most sincere condolences to Mrs. Rita and Dre's entire family. Dre was my student in Spanish for Health Care Professionals class. He was also my mentee. It was in this role I had the immense pleasure of enjoying Dre's company and presence in my office several times. Dre was an exceptional, sweet and compassionate human being. He had a clear goal in life which was working hard to contribute with disadvantaged populations' health and well-being improvement. Most definitely the U.S. and global public health community had lost a brilliant practitioner. One whose destiny was to make a difference in the life of many individuals and populations. You will be truly missed. Rest in peace dear student and friend.

For Dre
...and I will leave. But the birds will stay, singing;
and my garden will stay, with its green tree,
with its water well.
Many afternoons the skies will be blue and placid,
and the bells in the belfry will chime,
as they are chiming this very afternoon.
The people who have loved me will pass away,
and the town will burst anew every year.
But my spirit will always wander nostalgic
in the same recondite corner of my flowery garden...

Dre was in my Introduction to Sociology class at Clemson last semester (Fall 2015). I didn't know him very well but everything that everyone else is saying about him was so true, he was sweet and gentle, and definitely going to do big things with his life. His death is a complete shock and such a tragedy. Much love to the family and I hope that it makes them feel a tiny bit better to read how much Dre was admired by the faculty, staff, and students at Clemson.

Dr. Dre…
There will never be another like you. You inspired so many of us in life and still touching us even in death. I have always admired your consistency, humbleness, intensity and compassion. You ALWAYS had a smile and a kind word whenever I saw you. I never would have imagined that May 8 was the last day that we would see each other on this side of Heaven. This has rocked all of us to the core. My comfort is in knowing that you are resting in the arms of Jesus. We will always carry your memory in our hearts. You are and forever will be sorely missed! Dre was on my Academic Integrity Committee at Clemson that hears cases of students who feel they are not in violation of dishonesty. He would chair many hearings. I've known Dre for most of his time at Clemson. He treated each student and faculty member with the utmost respect and confidentiality and was a great role model for other students to emulate. I could also count on Dre to conduct the hearings in a very professional manner. I am just heart broken by this news and am struggling with the unfairness of it all. I saw Dre at May 7th graduation and even read his name before he walked across the stage. I'm so thankful I was able to hug his neck that day. This is just a tragedy and my heart breaks for his family and other loved ones whose lives will no longer be the same knowing this bright, shining star is no longer among us. Some comfort is received knowing he'll be watching us from above and smiling on us with that beautiful smile he would grace to everyone who was blessed to come into his presence. Dre - you were loved by so many and I hope your passing will show others the fragility of life and allow us the opportunity to love more deeply, hug more fiercely, and never pass up an opportunity for a kind word or an "I love you." You will be so missed my beautiful, sweet spirited friend. Please tell Jesus that we really need some comfort and peace sent to us during this most trying time as we're trying to make sense of it all. Love, Julia Lusk

Dre was an amazing young man. He was always respectful and courteous to me. As an employee at Hart County High School, I see so many students, Dre was always smiling and eager to help anyone. Such a short life here on earth, yet I'm sure many lives have been blessed by him. He had such great future plans but God saw it was time to take him home. Family and friends- take a moment and reflect on all the love Dre shared with you and know he would want you to make plans to be with him in Heaven. Don't take anything for granted. Life as we see it is too short. Prepare your hearts and live for Christ daily so when it's time to take the next journey, the destination will be Heaven. Blessings and prayers to all.
